SERVICE Opportunities
Become an advocate for autism acceptance, through digital outreach. Volunteer to educate peers, friends, and families about the issues facing autistic individuals. With this service, you will create a more accepting world for all people. This program is one-part learning about autism, one-part advocating for autism acceptance, and one part creating meaningful work for adults with autism.

Virtual March for Life Opportunities - January 28 and January 29
This year due to the Covid-19 pandemic there will not be a in person March for Life in Washington, DC. However, you still have an opportunity to participate in a virtual March for Life. Students who are interested may do the following listed below:
Capitol 101 Webinar – Thursday, January 28, 2021 with sessions at 9:00AM, 12:00PM, & 5:00PM
· To earn service hours for this virtual activity students must submit a screenshot of themselves at the webinar, (please make sure your screen is clearly visible in the photo) and a 3 - paragraph summary and response to the virtual webinar experience.
· Students must also fill out and complete the Paramus Catholic High School 2020-2021 Community Service Hour form. Please make sure that you have supplied all the information requested, including the date, time, signature of a parent/guardian, and have answered all the reflection questions on the service form.
· Students will earn 2 hours of community service for this virtual activity.
· When submitting this information for credit please include your completed Paramus Catholic Service Hour Form, copies of your screen shots, and your 3 paragraph writeup.

Virtual March for Life Opportunities (continued) - January 28 and January 29
Pre-Rally Show, Virtual Youth Rally, and Mass for Life
This year, the Archdiocese of Washington will be hosting a Virtual Youth Rally, a Pre-Rally Show, and a Mass for Life. The Pre-Rally Show will begin on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 8:00 AM, the Virtual Youth Rally will start right after the Pre-Rally Show at 8:30 AM, and finally, the Mass for Life will begin after the Virtual Youth Rally at 10:00AM. The celebration of life and these amazing activities will conclude at 11:00AM.
· To earn service hours for this virtual activity students must submit a screenshot of themselves at the Preshow/Rally/Mass, (please make sure your screen is clearly visible in the photo) and write a 3 - paragraph summary and response to the virtual experience.
· Students must also fill out and complete the Paramus Catholic High School 2020-2021 Community Service Hour form. Please make sure that you have supplied all the information requested, including the date, time, signature of a parent/guardian, and have answered all the reflection questions on the service form.

Support Deployed Troops, First Responders, Health Care Heroes, Veterans, New Recruits, or Wounded Heroes and Caregivers. Send letters, paracord bracelets, scarfs/hats, cool ties, drawstring bags, fleece hats, fleece scarves, fleece gators. - Send 3 letters (at least 3 paragraphs) = ½ community service hour; attach a sample letter to service form signed by parent or guardian

- Make FIVE Paracord Bracelets = 1 community service hour
- Knit or Crochet ONE Scarf/Hat = 3 community service hours
- Sew TWO Cool Ties = 1 community service hour
- Sew THREE Drawstring Bags = 1 community service hour
- Sew FOUR Fleece Hats = 1 community service hour
- Sew TWO Fleece Scarves = 1 community service hour
- Sew THREE Fleece Gators = 1 community service hour
Community Service Credit will be sent once items have been received at the Operation Gratitude facility.
To receive service verification:
- Fill out the online Donor Form and follow the instructions that will be emailed to you, upon completion.
- Send a self-addressed stamped envelope.
- Send a fully completed service form requesting Community Service Credit
(Please understand that Operation Gratitude turnaround time for community service forms can be 2-4 weeks, so be sure to plan accordingly.)

- A Zoom concert with a few peers
- A Poetry/Short Book Reading
- A Dance Performance
- Act out part of a classical piece of literature

Email fully completed service form to Ms. Klie with your video. This will be on the honor system – calculate time spent on the video including editing and designing. Ms. Klie will sign and stamp service forms and return them. If the indicated time spent does not seem appropriate Ms. Klie will consult with Mrs. Leon, as necessary.
SMITHSONIAN DIGITAL VOLUNTEERS: TRANSCRIPTION CENTER
"Digital Volunteers" can now take on important assignments to expand access to the Smithsonian's massive collections.
Citizen scholars are invited to transcribe historic documents including diaries and working papers of prominent Americans and records associated with the Smithsonian's vast scientific collections. Transcription makes these important materials more accessible to researchers around the world, as well as the general public.
