Virtual High School Learning in Paramus, New Jersey

At Paramus Catholic High School, there is nothing as important as the safety and health of our students, staff, families, and the greater community in Paramus, New Jersey, and the surrounding areas. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we are constantly adapting our policies and approach as effectively as possible, which is why we developed our hybrid virtual school program. Through this model, we can provide the highest possible level of education while ensuring the health and safety of every individual.

Virtual Learning Protocols

In Paramus Catholic High School’s hybrid format, students are divided into Group 1 and Group 2. While one group is in the physical classroom, the other group will be instructed virtually. Groups will regularly switch positions to create an equal experience for all. While learning online, students must:

  • Be present and on-time each day in class.
  • Be visible to the teacher.
  • State their first and last name on the platform the class is using.
  • Remain online, logged into the teaching platform, and in the virtual classroom until the class is dismissed by the teacher.
  • Abide by the same behavioral expectations as they would for in-class learning.
  • Familiarize themselves with the necessary platforms for every class. These include:

School Masses and service projects will also be conducted virtually until further notice.

The Same Quality Curriculum

Paramus Catholic High School has long had a reputation for offering a challenging, Christ-centered learning experience. Though we may have moved to a hybrid platform, parents and students alike can expect the same high quality of education without significant changes to the curriculum. Virtual and in-person classes are taught simultaneously with the content unaltered and gently adapted for the best possible success in an online format.

Further, we’ve always been dedicated to implementing advanced technologies, both inside the classroom and out, and we are putting that to use for our virtual program as well. Teachers are implementing the most robust platforms for student-teacher communication, class participation, the easy viewing of grades, and everything else necessary for a complete classroom experience.

Constantly Adapting to an Evolving Situation

Safety during COVID-19 requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to ever-changing circumstances. As a result, our hybrid learning model may change at any moment. Families should be prepared to shift to a fully virtual format when it becomes necessary. Our principal, Dr. Stephanie Macaluso, and the entire staff is paying attention to the circumstances and adapting our plan as we deem necessary. In the meantime, we will keep providing regular updates through our Parents Council newsfeed.
